Abstract

This report discusses the use of open data platforms like Wikimedia Commons and OpenStreetMap to digitize and archive regional activities. Combining these platforms helps preserve regional materials and support local activities through open-source maps for events.

Even individuals with limited IT skills can contribute, fostering community engagement. Open data can also be used for childcare and disaster prevention maps, promoting cooperation across local efforts.

The report includes the development and outcomes of the “Community Map Maker” digital map in Japan.
