GNOME Local Communities & FLOSS CJKV(Chinese-Japanese-Korean-Vietnamese) Contributors & Translator

In South Korea(Republic of Korea), Korean open source users experience that lack of Korean language support in FLOSS(Free/Libre Open Source Software).

Also, Due to the complexity of CJKV character input (Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and Vietnamese), CJKV Information Processing and Localizations are challenging tasks.

Unfortunately, FLOSS Developers & Contributors from outside East Asia(such as CJKV) don't know about the language expression & features. also They don't know about many of needs from Local users to improve CJKV localication.

So far I will introduce how Korean open source developers & contributors & community is supporting Korean Language on Free/Libre Open Source Software in South Korea.
I’ll talk about how to proceeding with Korean Input Method Engine related issues in some Korean communities(such as GNOME Korea, KDE Korea, Ubuntu Korea, LibreOffice Korea, etc)

The Korean language (Hangul[한글]: 한국말/조선말/한국어/조선어; Hanja[한자/ 漢字]: 韓國말/ 朝鮮말/ 韓國語 / 朝鮮語) is an East Asian language spoken by about 80 million people.
It is the official and national language of both Koreas: the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (North Korea) and the Republic of Korea (South Korea), with different standardized official forms used in each territory. It is also one of the two official languages in the Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture(연변 조선족 자치주/ 延邊朝鮮族自治州) and Changbai Korean Autonomous County(장백 조선족 자치현/ 長白朝鮮族自治縣) of the People's Republic of China[中華人民共和國, Mainland China]. Also It uses in Japan, Uzbekistan, Russia[It reads “Корё мар” in Russian], Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, etc
Also, Korean language uses Chinese characters(漢字). It says “Sino-Korean vocabulary” or “한자어(漢字語 / Hanja-eo)” in Korean. It is similar to Japanese Kanji[漢字かんじ].
So on FLOSS, you have to consider both Chinese and Japanese as well as Korean and vice versa.

I will also show the difference of Korean language in South Korea and North Korea.

I’ll talk about CJK issues in GNOME, LibreOffice, etc, based on Korean Language.

It is now simple to build and run a desktop application inside a sandbox, using systems such as flatpak, to isolate it from the rest of the system. This talk will discuss current advances in sandboxing for desktop applications, including an overview of how the sandbox is created, the restrictions it imposes, and the technologies used to make existence in a sandbox seamless (including portals and services such as PipeWire).

GNOME Community

My current project called Perempuan Sadar Teknologi (Women Awareness in Technology). It is a movement to help, intoduce and teach woman, especially housewives and motherhood to understand the latest technology or nearest technology around them. I believe that technology should give a social impact.

As housewives, day always start too early and ended too late. They managed the houses but also want to keep up with technology for knowing that it is will bring their child a better future. For some reason, including that their time is not as free as students, they accept this challenge. This movement taken place in Family Welfare Movement (Pembinaan Kesejahteraan Keluarga) to help the housewives and mother to have basic skill on using open souce (GNOME) and Libre Office, knowing that they have so many options to start their laptop.

This talks cover the step of approaching a local community to start use GNOME and LibreOffice as well as use it on daily basis, the struggle of housewive and motherhood with no experience in using GNOME at all, and their progress to be familiar with GNOME.

HFOSS projects are the humanitarian open source projects that are developed by keeping society needs in mind like in developing countries the issues like poverty, facilities for differently abled people, poor health care, education, etc are the major concerns. The GNOME Accessibility project develops and fosters compelling free open source accessibility solutions for graphical user interfaces. Through a worldwide community of developers and users, we continue to empower everyone, regardless of physical or mental abilities. GNOME has been translated to many of the world's languages. Humanitarian projects & students is a good match for the welfare of the society.

Application and platform developers, QA engineers and testers

GNOME has seen a number of initiatives to improve testing over recent years and the project is in the best position to see further improvements. Automated testing, especially with the move to GitLab, is more effective than ever. Usability testing has seen a lot of work from Jim Hall and the design team. But what about the planning and organisation around delivering GNOME as a product?

I will discuss the theory and processes around planning testing for a product like GNOME with regular releases, using real life examples from Apertis and how they can be applied to applications and the GNOME desktop. I will discuss the pros and cons of different approaches and how to decide what you should be using.

Users and interested people

Miracast is a standard to stream video and audio through WiFi connections to TVs and other displays. The most popular streaming solutions, Apple Airplay and Chromecast, are closed source implementations which do not integrate reliably with Free software. With Miraclecast, we have an open source solution which could receive a stream from all of your Linux devices. For example, it can be used to stream a video over WiFi to a Raspberry Pi. We are working on solving the sender side issue and a solution that allows casting to a Miracast device easily from the GNOME Desktop. In this talk, we will discuss the current status of the integration and the required changes in the underlying system components.
