議程簡介
(English session) I published my first project on GitHub in 2015, more than ten years ago. Back then, I was a programmer who knew a little C. Today, I am an active member of the open-source community, a Python core developer, and an Apache Spark committer. Looking back on my open-source journey, I have realized that my progress and achievements have never been linear. There were often long periods when I felt uncertain, lost, or stuck, followed by the sudden arrival of a new milestone. As I have grown, those difficult periods have become shorter, and the milestones have come more often. This makes me think that some of the lessons I have learned may be worth sharing. They will not instantly make anyone an excellent open-source developer, but they may help shorten the periods of uncertainty and make the next milestone arrive a little sooner. People are motivated by positive feedback, and I hope this talk can help more people experience that feedback early in their journey. I hope it encourages them to become happy and long-term members of the open-source community. In this talk, I will try to answer the two questions I am asked most often: Why should you work on open-source projects, and how should you do it? I believe that once you have answers to these questions, you will be ready to become an open-source developer.
