Speaker Participation
This page summarizes what COSCUP speakers should confirm before and during the event. If you were invited or accepted by a Community Session Track, please keep communication open with the Community Session Track Manager before the event so In-Person arrangements can proceed smoothly.
Before the Event
- Check your email and pre-event messages to confirm your Session time, classroom location, Session length, and language.
- Keep in touch with your Community Session Track Manager before the event.
- If you do not want to be recorded, photographed, or audio-recorded, please tell the Community Session Track Manager or In-Person staff in advance.
- If you need special equipment, internet access, demo setup, or Remote connection support, please raise the request in advance.
Arrival and Equipment Check
- Please arrive at the classroom during the Session before yours and test your equipment during the transition time.
- In-Person classrooms usually only provide an HDMI cable. If your device does not output HDMI directly, please bring your own adapter or extension cable.
- WiFi is not provided onsite. If your slides, demo, Remote connection, or Q&A tool requires internet access, please prepare your own working network connection.
- If the Session time has started but the Host is not present, you may open and begin your Session yourself.
- Please end on time so the next Session and transition can proceed smoothly.
Slide Aspect Ratio
| Room | Projector Aspect Ratio |
|---|---|
| RB105 | 16:9 |
| AU | 16:9 |
| Other classrooms | 4:3 |
The livestream and recording aspect ratio is 16:9 for every classroom, with a resolution of 1920 x 1080.
Slide Content Notes
- Do not use music with copyright concerns.
- Please respect copyright when creating slides. If materials require source, author, or license attribution, include the required information.
- We recommend adding English notes to your slides so attendees who do not understand Chinese can still follow.
- If you do not want to be recorded, photographed, or audio-recorded, you can add "No video recording", "No photography", or "No audio recording" to the slide footer.
- If you only do not want your face photographed, tell the In-Person Host, for example by asking photographers not to capture your face from the front.
Recording and Photography
- If you do not want to be recorded or photographed, please clearly state this and wear a red lanyard.
- If you have partial restrictions, clearly inform the Community Session Track Manager, Host, or In-Person staff.
- If you are willing to publish slides, additional links, or project materials, you can provide a QR Code on the final slide.
Q&A Tools
Please prepare your own Q&A tool. You can use a QR Code in your slides, an online form, Slido, HackMD, GitHub issues, or any tool suitable for your Session.
Golden Moments
- After your talk, we recommend introducing 1 or 2 Sessions you like. If someone you know is speaking in another Session, you can also tell attendees the time and location.
- We recommend preparing one question for the end of your talk. If no one asks a question, you can ask the audience first to help start discussion.
- You can also use the closing moments to introduce your own activities, Booth location, or other information you want attendees to know.
