At early April, the Okinawa information website of COVID-19 was opened by the volunteers of Code for Okinawa in association with the Okinawa Prefectural Government. We will share how did this website has been done, who contributed to it, and what problem did we have during the continuous development.
At early April, the Okinawa information website of COVID-19 was opened by the volunteers of Code for Okinawa (CfO) in association with the Okinawa Prefectural Government. It is fostered from the open source project of Tokyo COVID-19 Information site.
Contributor came from different area with diverse abilities, we gathered together on slack and started to make the site better. At the beginning the site was built and published quickly without support of Open Data source, the maintainer has to manually update the data, the localization was limited to Japanese.
Although the website was forked from Tokyo COVID-19 project, the CfO member has to adopt it to what information we have in Okinawa. The journey wasn’t easy, but with all kindness help and cooperation, the development went very smooth. Until now, we have a reliable data source, an automated converter, easy to read map, dynamic occurrence map, and AI bot to response concern of COVID-19 disease.
